Practical Support and Finances
Cancer brings about a range of practical issues that need attention.
From how you manage your finances, through to employment and what to do about childcare, there’s a lot to think about and organize during an already difficult time.
This page will give you some helpful information to guide you through various options. Should you need more assistance, please talk to your health care team or contact our Psychosocial Oncology Program.
As a member of various groups (e.g. service groups, churches) you may qualify for financial support during illness. Contact your community association for assistance.
Various community resource provide transportation. Here are a few links to assist in finding transportation options. ***Please note that most transportation service need a minimum of 48-72 hours notice to be able to book a ride.***

If you live out-of-town and are looking for lodging while on treatment here are a few resources:
Drug coverage can be provided by your private plan from work, if you have one. If you are not sure if you have medication coverage, please talk to your employer or Human Resources department.
There are various other programs that may help to cover the cost of your medications, but you may need to qualify. Go to these websites to find out more information:
Home Support Services:
If you require assistance at home through your treatment, there are a variety of private agencies that can provide homemaking (i.e.: Help with meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, snow removal, lawn care, etc.) services for a fee.
