Services at The Ottawa Hospital

Services at The Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre are offered for individuals who have suffered concussion with persisting symptoms. Currently due to clinic demand, we are not able to accept referrals for patients who have an onset of greater than 9 months.

 

As part of the regional Acquired Brain Injury program, The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) Rehabilitation Centre Post Concussion Out-Patient Clinic provides specialized care to patients with post concussion symptoms Group therapy interventions are also offered. The goal of these services is to assist patients with symptom management and improve a person’s ability to manage everyday activities.

 

Patients are managed by a Physiatrist, a specialist in Physical Medecine and Rehabilitation.  Access to the clinic requires a referral from a family doctor or medical specialist. A referral with accompanying  documentation can be sent to the  admitting department of The Ottawa Hospital  by fax at Fax: (613) 733-8336 or by phone at 613-737-8899 ext 75508.

 

Group Education:

Patients on the wait list will be contacted to attend a Group Education Series. These sessions provide patient education in symptom self-management and peer support.
